Men’s Ministry

In 1965 Paul Simon wrote the song, “I Am a Rock”, describing his life as a man.

“I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
I am a rock
I am an island
And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries.”

In contrast to Paul Simon, the men at FBC recognize that no man is an island and that men have a great need to connect with each other in meaningful friendships. The Men’s Ministry at FBC strives to do just that by providing opportunities for guys to get together and grow as men.

When we can connect with other men doing activities we enjoy, we are more likely to talk about real issues we face.

We all want to be better husbands, fathers, workers, and men. To achieve this, we encourage men in their relationship with God, strengthen them as leaders of their homes, and help them build relationships with other men. For this to happen, however, we have to spend time connecting with other men.

Some of our activities include a Par 3 golf tournament, BBQ dinners, a fishing tournament, half-day spiritual retreats, and service opportunities. All of these events allow us to get to know each other in a setting outside of church.

Don’t be a rock. Get connected with other men at FBC as we all strive to be the men God would have us to be.
