Fellowship Bible Church Columbia seeks part-time worship leader and part-time youth leader or combination

Worship Leader Responsibilities and Expectations

This role will be 10 hours per week with Fellowship Bible Church (FBC), Irmo, SC.
The Worship Leader reports to the Pastor.

The worship leader we are seeking:

• Will know Jesus Christ as personal Savior and will have a mature, authentic, and growing spiritual life
• Will have a passion for and be personally immersed in worship through music
• Will be in complete agreement with the FBC doctrinal statement
• Will play either acoustic guitar or piano and have strong vocal ability
• Will be able to lead with minimal reference to the chord charts to better connect with the congregation
• Will be able to plan the flow of the worship service including song selection, music-team management, Scripture readings, prayer, exhortation, media and other elements to draw the entire congregation into worship
• Will choose songs that evoke both the transcendence and imminence of God and, like the Psalms, express the full range of human emotions
• Will be able to write chord charts for musicians and vocalists (reading music is a bonus but not required)
• Will submit the order of worship (the song list, chord charts, and probable keys) to the worship team and pastor no later than Wednesday each week
• Will encourage team leadership gifts by planning for other team members to lead songs that fit them well vocally or musically
• Will be able to sense the worship pulse of the congregation during the service and adjust his leadership accordingly
• Will plan and lead practice helping each team member to understand his or her role for each song
• Will primarily select contemporary music but will also draw upon the rich heritage of the church using fresh arrangements of hymns and older songs to fit within the flow of a contemporary worship service
• Will be willing to learn FBC favorites and incorporate them into our worship
• Will seek to develop and use the worship arts talent within the church
• Will be willing and have the authority to decide who is gifted to be in worship leadership (We want worship leaders up front not just musicians and vocalists)
• Will seek to develop a sense of community among the worship team

Youth Leader Responsibilities and Expectations

This role will be 15 hours per week with Fellowship Bible Church (FBC), Irmo, SC.
The Youth Leader reports to the Pastor.

The youth leader we are looking for…

• Will know Jesus Christ as personal Savior and will have an authentic and growing spiritual life
• Will have a passion for reaching and discipling students
• Will be in complete agreement with the FBC doctrinal statement
• Will have good relational skills being able to connect well with parents, volunteers and students
• Will have the organizational and leadership skills to plan and execute a comprehensive vision of ministry for youth (outreach, discipleship, worship, activities, retreats, service projects, etc.)
• Will be a gifted teacher responsible for the majority of teaching
• Will be able to recruit and develop a student leadership team
• Will manage and maintain youth ministry resources (budget, room, equipment, curriculum)
• Will spend time with public, home, and private school students outside of official church activities
